A prominent attorney repeatedly recognized by Super Lawyers as one of New York City’s best bankruptcy law practitioners, Norman Kinel draws on three decades of practice area experience to serve as a partner at the 1,600 lawyer international law firm Squire Patton Boggs. Over the course of his career, he has represented several clients in nuermous high profile bankruptcy proceedings, including those involving Enron Corporation, Adelphia Communications, Lehman Brothers and Tavern on the Green. Additionally, Norman Kinel received the ACG New York Champion’s Award for Healthcare Deal of the Year following his successful representation of the unsecured creditors’ committee in the 2014 reorganization of KidsPeace Corp., a children’s psychiatric hospital and health care organization.
In addition to his extensive bankruptcy litigation experience, Norman Kinel is a registered bankruptcy mediator, including a court-approved appointment in the Lehman Brothers cases. His extensive practice experience spans not only the representation of debtors and creditors, including numerous creditors’ committee’s, but also bondholders,equity holders, retirees and trustees. Mr. Kinel has litigated complex bankruptcy cases involving legal concepts such as director and officer liability, fraudulent conveyance, relief from the automatic stay and contested plan confirmations, and he possesses additional experience in mergers, acquisitions, and bankruptcy asset sales.
An alumnus of the American University Washington College of Law, Norman Kinel maintains active membership with the American Bankruptcy Institute and serves on the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association and the Board of Editors of The Bankruptcy Strategist.
